Founding Story
The story behind Core Collective Pilates Studio is truly inspiring
Core Collective Pilates Studio has its roots in the personal journey of its founder and owner, Hannah. As a mother of two young children, Hannah experienced the transformative benefits of Reformer Pilates firsthand. It not only reshaped her body but also boosted her energy levels, allowing her to be a more engaged and active mother. She found that Pilates was a sustainable and effective fitness solution that didn't leave her in pain or exhaustion, unlike traditional gym workouts.

Matwork Pilates Beginnings
In 2020, right after the initial COVID-19 lockdown, Hannah decided to share her passion for Pilates by becoming a Matwork Pilates instructor. Her unique personality and welcoming approach quickly resonated with many women who were drawn to Pilates for its incredible benefits and Hannah's judgment-free teaching style. She began teaching at local gyms in Newcastle.
02.
Opening Hannah Wood Pilates
Recognising the growing interest in Pilates and the need for more accessibility, Hannah took the next step. She opened her own Matwork Pilates studio in Lambton, aptly named Hannah Wood Pilates. This studio was a resounding success, further solidifying Hannah's belief in the power of Pilates and her unique ability to create a comfortable and inclusive fitness environment.
03.
Transition to Reformer Pilates
Hannah's journey didn't stop at Matwork Pilates. She had a strong desire to expand her offerings and introduce Reformer Pilates to her community. This transition marked a significant growth point for her business, expanding the business behind the scenes.
04.
Core Collective Pilates opens in Wallsend
With Reformer Pilates now part of the repertoire, Hannah decided to open ‘Core Collective Pilates by Hannah Wood’ in Wallsend. This move filled a gap in the area, providing an inclusive studio where mothers could bring their children. Hannah understood that for many mothers, their top priority is their children, but self-care is essential too. Core Collective Pilates became a haven for mothers to focus on their well-being while knowing their kids were welcome.
05.
Expansion to East Maitland
Continuing Hannah’s mission to bring accessible Pilates to underserved areas, Core Collective Pilates opened in East Maitland.
This was a pivotal step in making the unique Pilates experience available to even more women.
06.
Passion for Pilates
Throughout this journey, Hannah's passion for Pilates has remained unwavering. She believes in its benefits wholeheartedly and is dedicated to sharing its transformative power with anyone willing to listen. This passion, combined with the supportive and inclusive atmosphere created by Hannah, has made Core Collective Pilates a place where women can not only get fit but also feel valued and comfortable in their own skin.

As Core Collective Pilates Wallsend and East Maitland continued to expand, Hannah was able to reconnect with her desire to get back to teaching Matwork Pilates.
Finding a suitable location in Adamstown, Hannah has now opened her 3rd studio offering Matwork Pilates and Yoga.
